Hello,

I tried to email you and subsequently posted on creativeireland.com about getting in contact; gremlins in the email, I suspect.

I wanted to ask about some hosting features, specifically related to the basic linux service.

- Are there any URLs or screenshots for the webmail system you use that I could take a look at?

- Same as above but for Web-based control panels?

- If I change from my present hosting service, what will happen to all my old emails? I use webmail rather than Outlook or Eudora; I don't what to have them all disappear.

- What are the practicalities of changing over? Will there be a period of time where I can't recieve email? The domain (www.compactrisc.net) has recently been re-registered for the coming year with my present hosting/registration company (host.ie) although the hosting will not run out for another couple of weeks. Will this cause problems?

You can post a reply for me here, or else email [email protected]. Also, seeing as there's been problems, you might want to cc: the email to [email protected] as well.

Thanks.

Hi Silo,

Here is why our responses have bounced - reply below:

<[email protected]>:
Connected to 195.218.115.155 but sender was rejected.
Remote host said: 550 5.0.0 <[email protected]>... As a result of complaints the above address has been filtered from sending email. The customer may have this filter removed at any time by emailing [email protected]

Hi Tom,

Did you not get the response?

It is unlikely that archived email can be moved from another host, the webmail interface is the IMP system as per www.horde.org/imp

The control panel we use is viewable at https://cp.hosting365.ie:8443

Em, I'm not quite sure I understand this. Does this mean that you can't send me email because there's been complaints about my email address leading to it being de-activated by Host.ie?

i think it means you should contact host.ie and tell them not to be blocking e-mails coming from the servers of hosting 365.

Silo, I think it's something to do with the fact that so many of Host.ie's customers (myself included) upped and left them as soon as Hosting365's service was up and running icon_wink.gif
It seems to me that the management at Host.ie are being extremely petty-minded because they can't compete with the superior service offered by Hosting365!

Hi,

I plan on using an MS Access DB.
On a Windows shared plan, is it possible to put the DB in a secure folder (or outside the webspace) to prevent its download ?

Thanks

Hi,

Absolutely, you simply upload the DB to the root directory of your account (one level up from the web viewable folders).
