Daft.ie dominates at the Golden Spiders
The Eircom Net Golden Spiders took place on Tuesday, with online property site Daft.ie the big winner on the night, taking home four awards including best overall website.

The awards, now in their eighth year, were held in the Burlington Hotel on 30 November. There were a record number of entries this year with 20 categories ranging from best e-commerce website and best SME website to best motoring website and media service website of the year.

"The number of entries was quite simply outstanding and the high calibre of nominations shows proof of the critical role the internet now plays in business," said Ian Hyland, publisher of Business & Finance magazine, which acquired the rights to run the awards from the defunct publisher Hosen Communications earlier this year.

Daft.ie was presented with the Eircom Net overall website of the year award as well as the Domain.ie website of the year award. It also claimed the award for best information excellence and best online search engine portal.

Daft.ie is an online property site which provides online advertising to Irish estate agencies, landlords, homeowners and tenants. The company was founded in 1997 by Eamonn and Brian Fallon and has since gone from strength to strength to become one of Ireland's most visited websites. According to Daft.ie, it delivers 12 million pages of properties a month to over 520,000 visitors.
